L’Istituto Tecnico di Koboko si è riempito di gioia a inizio giugno quando 159 giovani si sono diplomati e hanno ricevuto i loro kit di avviamento ai vari mestieri per i quali si sono formati. I giovani, principalmente che non avevano terminato la scuola e i più vulnerabili, sono stati selezionati e formati nel contesto del progetto CRRF: Inclusive Urban Development and Mobility Action nel comune di Koboko, implementato con il supporto tecnico di ACAV e finanziato dall’Unione Europea.

Mentre venivano distribuiti i kit ai giovani, il sindaco del comune di Koboko li ha motivati ad utilizzare gli strumenti e dare il via alle loro attività e li ha esortati a non lasciarsi scappare questa opportunità di trasformare le loro vite e quelle di coloro che li circondano. “Siete molto fortunati ad essere stati scelti per ricevere queste competenze che potete usare per tirarvi fuori dalla povertà. Inizierete in piccolo, ma con il duro lavoro e la tenacia, vi assicuro, festeggeremo il vostro successo la prossima volta che ci vedremo” ha detto il sindaco.

Dei 159 laureati, 82 sono rifugiati mentre 77 provengono dalle comunità ospitanti. Sono stati formati dalla scuola tecnica di Koboko per 3 mesi e 2 di apprendistato prima del diploma. Tutti hanno sostenuto e superato gli esami e ora sono pronti ad affrontare un futuro migliore.

Excitement filled the compound of Koboko Technical Institute at the beginning of June as 159 youth received their start kits in various trades in which they were trained. The youth, mainly those out of school and most vulnerable were selected and trained by five CBOs implementing the CRRF: Inclusive Urban Development and Mobility Action in Koboko Municipality, implemented with technical support of ACAV and funded by the European Union.
While passing out the youth, the Mayor of Koboko Municipality implored them to use the kit provide to kickstart their businesses which will great opportunities for them to transform their lives and the lives of those around them. “You are very lucky to have been among those chosen to receive these life skills, which you can use to pull yourselves out of poverty. You can start small, and anywhere, but with hard work and persistence, I assure you, we shall celebrate your success next time,” the mayor counselled.
Out of the 159 graduates, 82 are refugees while 77 are from the host communities. They were trained from Koboko technical school for 3 months and placed for apprenticeship for two months before graduation. All the graduates sat and passed their DIT (Directorate of Industrial Training of Uganda) exams and are capable of upgrading their skills.
